IMAGE IS EVERYTHING IN THE MIRROR, APPARENTLY
April 6, 2009
Beauty is not only skin deep. That’s only something the less blessed say to comfort themselves. The reason being, a person’s image is the way they see themselves. It directly relates to confidence and evaluation of self worth. Reuters reports 25 percent of women questioned would rather win “America’s Next Top Model” TV show than the Nobel Peace Prize. And my guess is, the other 75 percent just didn’t want to admit it out loud. No offense, Marie Curie, but you’re no Tyra.
If losing a few pounds or smoothing a few wrinkles will allow you to look in the mirror with pride, then why not? A couple of Botox shots can take your focus off of your imperfections and let you move on to what you would like to achieve like landing that next job or date. You could go from hiding under a hat to finally asking out that guy you make eye contact with in the latte line every day. That doesn’t mean Mr. Double-Shot-No-Foam would only go out with the wrinkle-free you, it means you would finally feel good enough to ask. This is about Y-O-U. Looking good to please others is superficial, but to please yourself is beautiful. And that’s in that inner-beauty sort of way.
Growing up you are worried about your appearance but you write it off as being a part of the awkward teen years. Then in your 20s and 30s you try to put your best face forward to for new beginnings like marriage and the career launch. But now that you’re settled, the wrinkles are settling too. You’re out of reasons why you shouldn’t. Twenty minutes and a gentle prick of a small needle later your face is refreshed. You look in the mirror and you’re happy.
When the frown lines wear on you, let Dr. Raval erase them. Dr. Raval is a board-certified cosmetic surgeon of Rocky Mountain Laser Aethetics at 250 Steele St. Suite 206 in Cherry Creek North.
