JEFFREY RAVAL, MD, FACS & NICOLETTE PICERNO, MD

As facial plastic surgeons, Drs. Nicolette Picerno and Jeffrey Raval devote much of their days to beautifying the faces of Denver. “The desire for men and women to maintain a personal beauty aesthetic keeps us very busy,” says Dr. Picerno who has been in practice at Faces First with her partner Dr. Jeffrey Raval for three years. But when they're not in the operating room or tending to patients at their thriving medical-spa, Dr. Picerno and Dr. Raval spend their their time enjoying the Colorado way of life. “In Denver, much of my off time is centered on staying active with outdoor activities. Hiking, skiing and playing tennis are some of my great pastimes and one of the reasons that I truly enjoy living here,” says Dr. Picerno, who resides in Littleton with her husband and their four dogs.

As an avid skier, golfer and mountain biker, Dr. Raval also shares his partner's passion for the rural Rocky Mountain routine. “If I had to give up my practice, I would be a ski instructor,” he says. Still, he followed in his parents' footsteps (both his mother and father were doctors) and became a facial plastic surgeon. “I like the challenge that my profession brings and love to work with my hands.”

Their occupation allows the doctors to express their creative sides. “I have always had an appreciation for the fine arts and for music,” says Dr. Picerno. “Our profession is the ideal blend of the medical science and artistic edge.” Indeed, there is a real art to facial rejuvenation. “It seems everybody wants to look better these days,” says Dr. Raval.. “My philosophy is to try and bring out the inner beauty, or the potential, that people have when they come to see me with concerns. We find that our patients are younger, busier and more active than ever.” Dr. Picerno agrees: “Less is more,” she says. “We can reserve the signs of aging by doing a few small treatments- injectable fillers and a few peels, for example. These treatments can make a huge improvement. Patients don't want the downtime and major overhauls that are involved with traditional surgeries. Minimally invasive techniques let them get in, out and on with their lives.” And these active doctors appreciate the need to get out there and be seen.
